Even though I have a fear of birds, I have no problem staying at @thebirdhousekitchen!
Watch My New Reel For The Birdhouse Down Below!
I recently had the pleasure of tasting their new menu at The Birdhouse, a contemporary Australian restaurant in Minchinbury. Let me tell you, it was amazing and worth the trip!
What did I have?
The cocktails menu had unique and intriguing choices, so I decided to try a few. The Lovebird, a cocktail made with violet gin, limoncello, lemon, and lavender syrup, was a refreshing and floral drink that was a perfect start to the meal. Aqua Flight was another interesting cocktail made with vodka, Chambord, lemon, watermelon syrup, and aquafaba, which gave it a foamy and light texture. Lychee Caprioska was a classic and well-executed cocktail made with vodka, sugar syrup, and lime juice. The Baklava Cheesecake Cocktail was a delightful dessert cocktail with rose gin, Eau de bee, Frangelico, vanilla/rose syrup, and aquafaba, and the baklava garnish was a nice touch.
The Cured Kingfish was also a tasty and well-presented dish with Hiramasa Kingfish, Za’atar, radish, herbed labneh, and mild chilli oil. The Fried Squid had a crispy exterior and was served with a flavorful corn purée, aioli, and lime. Smokey Eggplant was a refreshing chilled dish with grilled sourdough and chickpeas. The Baked Brie was a simple but satisfying dish with baby brie, rosemary honey, and sourdough. The Bone Marrow was a rich and decadent dish served with salsa verde and house bread. Hello Garry was a classic and tasty pizza with mozzarella, garlic, and parsley.
Moving on to mains, the Duck Breast was a standout dish with Aylesbury Duck, watercress, mint, pomegranate salad, fried leek, and parsnip purée. The Barramundi was well-prepared and served with a flavorful corn purée, charred corn, peas, and basil vierge. The Lamb Backstrap was another standout dish with whipped feta, pomegranate, eggplant, and pine nuts. Pep-Talk was a classic pizza with San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Oh, and don't forget the mouthwatering Duck Fat Potatoes—garlic, parsley, and duck fat combine to create crispy perfection.
Finally, for dessert, Baklava Cheesecake was a delicious and unique dessert with a creamy cheesecake filling and baklava garnish. The Turkish Delight Truffle was a delightful sweet treat with a soft and creamy centre.
Overall, The Birdhouse was definitely a restaurant that I would bring my family and friends over for a nice brunch/dinner! Was definitely worth the travel.
