Looking for the best cocktail bars in Sydney to level up your next night out? Whether you're into moody speakeasies, rooftop views, or mixology masterpieces, I've rounded up 5 of my all-time favourite spots that never miss. Perfect for date nights, catch-ups with friends, or just treating yourself to a damn good drink - these are the bars you'll want to save (and brag about) later. Let's dive in, one cocktail at a time. 🍸
Hidden above Sydney’s CBD, Old Mate’s Place is a rooftop gem with stunning views of the Centrepoint Tower. The space is cozy, so get in early to grab a spot!
Don’t miss the Pandan Airways cocktail - gin, pandan, young coconut, strawberry, and verjus, topped with a nostalgic aeroplane jelly. It’s fun, fresh, and always my go-to there.
Perfect for sunset drinks and a night out with a view.
2. Smoke Bar
Perched above Barangaroo House, Smoke Bar delivers sky-high vibes with sweeping waterfront views and a sleek, modern vibe that feels effortlessly cool.

It's the kind of place made for golden hour - think stylish cocktails, whole panorama of Darling Harbour and Barangaroo, and a buzzing atmosphere that kicks off just as the sun dips.
My go-to? Their Tommy’s Margarita with Patrón tequila - refreshing, smooth, and dangerously good. Such a vibe!
If you’re a margarita girly like me, Tio’s in Surry Hills is a non-negotiable stop. This lively tequila bar serves up all the fun with a killer range of margs to match any mood.

My fave? The Pickle Margarita - it’s tangy, bold, and totally addictive. Whether you're chasing after a classic or something wild, Tio’s always delivers with good drinks, good tunes, and even better energy. Perfect for spontaneous nights with your mates!
4. Centro 86
Centro 86 is my go-to for chill vibes and killer cocktails in Pitt St. Their Happy Hour (4–6pm) is a must, with $12 Spicy Margaritas that bring the heat without breaking the bank.

Rolling in late? I switch things up with their Amaretto Sour - a unique mix of amaretto, umeshu, lemon, whites, and shiso that hits all the right notes. Oh, and did I mention the free spicy popcorn on arrival? It’s the little things that keep me coming back.

If you're after bold flavours and even bolder fun, El Primo Sanchez in Paddington is the place to be.
My go-to is the ‘Viva la Vida’ - a tequila cocktail dream with Patrón Silver, Ancho Reyes, mint, citrus, mango, and agave. It’s fresh, spicy, and sooooo good.
But the best part? They’ve got a karaoke room. Because nothing says "best night ever" like belting out your favourite song with a margarita in one hand and zero shame in the other. Come for the drinks, stay for the party.
